Serving size: 1-2 people
Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces of high-quality chocolate (dark, milk, or white, depending on your preference)
  • Assorted candies, chocolates, pretzels, nuts, treats for filling, and or love notes
  • Heart-shaped silicone mold (you can find these in various sizes)
  • Parchment paper
  • Optional: edible gold dust or edible glitter for decoration

Directions:

  1. Line each cavity of the mold with a thin layer of melted chocolate. This will create the outer shell of your smash heart. Ensure the chocolate covers the bottom and sides of each cavity evenly, leaving a hollow space in the center. You can use a brush or a spoon to spread the chocolate evenly.
  2. Place the mold in the refrigerator to set for about 20 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
  3. Once the chocolate shell has set, remove the mold from the refrigerator.
  4. Fill the hollow center of each heart with your assortment of candies, chocolates, and treats. You can be creative and add a variety of flavors and textures. You can also add love notes.
  5. Reheat the remaining melted chocolate if needed then carefully spoon more melted chocolate over the filled cavities to seal the heart-shaped mold completely. Make sure there are no gaps or openings.
  6. Return the mold to the refrigerator and let it chill for another 30 minutes or until the chocolate shell is firm.
  7. Gently remove the chocolate heart from the silicone mold. You may need to flex the mold slightly to release them.
  8. Place the hearts on a clean surface lined with parchment paper.
  9. If desired, you can decorate the chocolate hearts with extra colorful chocolate and or by brushing them with edible gold dust or edible glitter for an elegant touch. Let any excess glitter fall onto the parchment paper.
  10. To enjoy, simply smash the chocolate heart with a wooden mallet, spoon or your hands to reveal the hidden treats inside. You can also place the heart into a box to deliver as a gift.
